Sub array calculator

Inline Gradient Sub Planner

Get the rear-sub offset and delay from a known crossover frequency.

Hz

This uses the established spreadsheet method: an 8% crossover allowance, two one-third-octave steps down, then quarter-wavelength distance and time.

Rear-sub delay

Use this as your field starting point, then measure and verify the array.

Front sub Normal polarity · 0 ms

Keep both cabinets facing the audience. The spacing is measured grille-to-grille along the front-to-back axis.

Setup sequence

Four steps in the processor

  1. 1
    Place the rear sub

Set it directly behind the front sub.

  2. 2
    Invert rear polarity

Apply polarity inversion to the rear-sub output only.

  3. 3
    Add rear delay

Add to the rear-sub output. Leave the front at 0 ms.

  4. 4
    Measure and verify

Confirm forward summation and rear rejection, then make small field adjustments.
